The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting of the Dehradun division is scheduled to be held on Saturday which will be chaired by Garhwal commisioner Vinay Shankar Pandey. The Dehradun regional transport office (RTO) will present several proposals to improve the local public transportation and connectivity of semi urban areas to city areas. The regional transport officer (Administration) and RTA secretary Sunil Sharma said that the RTO will present a proposal for starting the operation of mini buses on the routes that are not connected to the main city area as a part of its three tier plan. He said that the RTO will also present a proposal to introduce several new routes in Raipur areas. A discussion on promoting clean fuelled public transport vehicles will also be held in the meeting. Sharma said that the department aims to provide accessible and affordable public transportation facilities to all localities and settlements in the Dehradun district and important decisions will be taken to achieve this in the RTA meeting. Besides this, several other proposals will also be presented in the meeting regarding the public transportation system in Dehradun, he added.
