Thursday, 28 December 2023 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

In a collaborative effort between the State Bank of Indian and the Madhya Pradesh Police, 18 beneficiaries were granted a significant amount of ?1,00,000 each under MUDRA loan to support the operation of 'Shakti Cafés' run by women in the 18 precinct areas of Bhopal. The inception of 'Shakti Cafés' marks a pioneering step by the Madhya Pradesh Police, aimed at providing employment opportunities on a daily basis and facilitating justice for women affected by violence.

The Energy Help Desks were established in Bhopal's precincts in 2017, later expanded in 2021 across every precinct in Madhya Pradesh through the 'Shakti Committees', wherein female officers in every precinct assist women affected by violence in seeking justice. This initiative has gained recognition from the Supreme Court's Juvenile Justice Committee in 2023 as a best practice.

Today, the Indian State Bank has taken a meaningful initiative across 18 precincts to provide employment to all women in the form of 'Shakti Kiosks', enabling them to become self-employed and financially resilient. These women will operate kiosks providing tea and snacks, ensuring both employment opportunities and economic empowerment.
