Senior IAS officer & chairman of Board of Revenue (UP) Deepak Trivedi (59) and senior Samajwadi Party leader & former minister Haji Riyaz died of Covid-19 in Lucknow on Thursday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the demise of both, saying it is an irreparable loss to the society and administration. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also condoled the death of Riyaz, terming it a great loss for the party.
A five-time MLA from Pilibhit City seat, Haji Riyaz was a minister in both Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav governments. After testing positive for coronavirus infection, the SP leader was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. He was active in campaigning for the ongoing panchayat polls in favour of his daughter and son-in-law. His daughter also tested Covid positive.
Meanwhile, UP’s senior most IAS officer Deepak Trivedi also succumbed after battling the disease for a fortnight at SGPGI in Lucknow on Thursday morning. The 1985-batch officer was also the chairperson of UP IAS Association. The IAS Association condoled the untimely death of their senior colleague.
