The G20 Presidency is an opportunity

G20 gives India an excellent opportunity to become a global player in world politics and resolve world conflicts

The G-20 Presidency of India is a huge Platform to showcase its multidimensional role and inner prowess across the globe. There have been a lot of conceptual and scholastic discussions about India’s leading role, new opportunities and emerging challenges which may create a new vision for an international order based on mutual cooperation and coordination. Who knows a couple of years hence, a plethora of literature appearing on International Politics and changing Paradigms: Post-2022.

As the theme, Vasudhaiva Kutumba-Kam (One Earth, One Family, One Future ) and its close ties with Lifestyle for Environment reflect India’s penchant towards democratic values and excellent harmony with nature. It is a welcome sign that India has got an opportunity to draw a framework for key demands of the new economic cooperation while maintaining a synergy between international actors. The post-pandemic phase has been marked by a period of substantial change in the contents and nature of IR in the backdrop of myriad challenges on account of economic slowdown and security crisis of unprecedented magnitude due to Geo-Political skirmishes in different parts of the world. Whereas the increasing liberalization has provided a link deeply interwoven in a comprehensive view of society, market, freedom, choice, empowerment, and peace and its bad impact has created a bit of a confusing situation. There has been a lot of concern about the high rising debt of nations across the globe including the neighbourhood of India Pakistan and Sri Lanka has virtually been engulfed in an economic quagmire.

The International Monetary Fund and World Bank are gradually seeing increasing demands for loans which may gradually become unsustainable if the economic crisis is not dealt with head-on. This can only be done through collective efforts (Multilateral Coordination) by member states. The partnership among myriad institutions through equity and access to all shows the level of insight in empowering even the least economically developed countries is another area to be handled by the G 20 group. The pursuit of India to enhance the area of aggrandizement and attain the goal of Sustainable Development through multilateralism exhibits tremendous effort towards accelerating the overall cooperation scenario. Lucy Larcom once said, “If the world seems cold to you, kindle fire to warm it.” How true it is about our traditional values and ethics which are deeply interwoven in a solid backup system. The slogan of a self-reliant India ( Atmanirbhar Bharat ) has always remained reliable and withstood the toughest period of crisis even during deadly spikes of the pandemic.

G20’s Presidency is an opportunity for India to showcase its inner prowess driven by its strength from the value of labour, honesty, truth, non-violence, dedication, determination, loyalty and above all trust creation. Even as major economies of the world witnessed a slowdown, economic growth has remained resilient in India. However, the major challenge is to create more employment during a global economic slowdown period. Rapid globalization has brought forward a new syndrome of “perform or perish”. Surely the syndrome is affecting public sector enterprises and businesses the world around.
