Two people were killed in a gas cylinder blast outside a private hospital in Chandauli district on Friday.

The impact of the explosion was so intense that it shattered glass panes in the hospital and houses nearby, and two bodies were badly mutilated. Visuals showed them lying on the road amid chaos in the area. A truck carrying several oxygen cylinders is also seen parked in the middle of the road.

The police took the dead bodies into custody, and sent them for autopsy. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being investigated.

The explosion outside Dayal Hospital in Ravi Nagar area of Mughalsarai city took place between 9:00 am and 9:30 am while oxygen cylinders were being unloaded from a truck that was parked outside the hospital.

A huge crowd gathered around the spot, and the fire brigade was also rushed there.

Superintendent of Police Ankur Aggarwal inspected the spot and a forensic team was called in. Both the people who died, used to work in the company that supplied oxygen cylinders.

The police are investigating whether the oxygen cylinders` refilling and packing was done properly.

In another tragic mishap, three people were killed and one critically injured when two motorcycles collided with each other in Sitapur district, police said on Friday.

The accident took place on Biswan-Laharpur road in Manpur police station area on Thursday night.

Both the motorcycles had a pillion rider each. Shoaib, Shadab and Mobeen were fatally injured, Additional Superintendent of Police Sitapur, Rajeev Dikshit said.

They were rushed to the community health centre where they were pronounced dead, the ASP said, adding that the fourth person was referred to the district hospital for treatment.

All the victims were in their 30s, Dikshit said, adding that none of them was wearing protective helmets at the time of the accident.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief over the deaths and directed the district administration to provide proper treatment of the injured.

Meanwhile in Kannauj, an on-duty constable allegedly hanged himself in Chhibramau tehsil on Friday, police said.

Constable Vishnu was posted in Chhibramau court and had come for duty like every day and talked on his phone for some time. After 10 am, he was found hanging from a tree behind the court building, Circle Officer, Chhibramau, Deepak Dubey said.

His body was brought down by the cops who then informed his family.

The CO said it was yet to be known why Vishnu killed himself.

Vishnu belonged to Mathura district and was married only five months ago.
