Two Naxalites, one of them carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, on Thursday surrendered in Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh.
Pojja Vanjam alias Shankar and Dashru Kunjam turned themselves in, citing disappointment with the Maoist ideology, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai said.
Shankar, who carried the bounty, was the Burgum Panchayat Militia Commander of the outlawed Maoist group. The two were involved in several Maoist incidents.
So far, 654 Naxalites, 167 of them carrying cash rewards, have given up violence in Dantewada.
