Union Bank manager killed in road mishap

The manager of the Union Bank of India’s Vibhuti Khand branch in Gomtinagar, Lucknow was killed and two others were seriously injured in a collision between a car and a truck near Rasulpur village on Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway passing through Sohramau police station area of Unnao

The victim, identified as Irfan Beg, was a resident of Momin Nagar road in Balaganj, Lucknow and was returning from his in-laws’ house in Kanpur Nagar late on Saturday night when he met with the mishap.

The truck driver was also injured in the collision.

Sohramau police sent the injured truck driver to Nawabganj community health centre from where the doctors referred him to King George’s Medical University Trauma Center in view of his critical condition.

Sohramau police station in-charge Amit Singh said the body was sent for autopsy.

Reports said that Irfan Beg went to his in-laws' house in Kanpur Nagar on Diwali holidays. When he was returning home, a speeding empty container hit his car from behind near Rasulpur village of Sohramau in Unnao.

Apart from Irfan, container driver Tul Waris (35) of Deoria and cleaner Ranjit (25) were injured in the accident.

In another accident on Agra-Kanpur highway in Jaswantnagar police station area of Etawah, a car coming from Agra side crashed into the divider and then hit two motorcycles in the other lane, claiming lives of two motorcycle riders and leaving four others critically injured.

The injured were admitted to a medical facility in Saifai.

Both the deceased belonged to Rukanpura village of Jaswantnagar.

Inspector Abdul Salam Siddiqui, who reached the spot, said that the accident happened on Saturday night and there were six people on two motorcycles and they were going to attend a bhandara organised by someone in Jamuna Bagh.

They were in front of the overbridge at Kursena village when a car coming from Agra side got out of control and crashed into the road divider and then hit the motorcycle riders going in the other lane.

Motorcycle riders Ramkishore (35) and Shyamkishore (40) died on the spot while four others on the pillion of the two motorcycles were seriously injured.

On getting information about the incident, Jaswant Nagar police reached the spot and took the injured to Saifai PGI hospital.

In another road accident in Farrukhabad district, the car of advocate Prashant Mishra (34), resident of Mohammad Nagar Bajhera village, was hit by a dumper on Sunday morning near village Buxuri of Shamshabad police station area. This led to the death of Prashant who was driving the car.

Prashant’s father, Tulsiram, wife Shivani, son Lakshya, Rudra and Arun Kumar of the village were injured in the mishap. The injured were admitted to Lohia Hospital. The driver left the dumper and fled. A case was registered and the body was sent for autopsy. Efforts were on to nab the dumper’s driver.
