The petrol pumps in the city experienced an overwhelming number of people seeking to fill their vehicles with fuel due to the ongoing strike of truckers. According to the employees of petrol pumps in Dehradun, the demand for petrol has increased as a result of the truckers’ strike, causing inconvenience for people. Additionally, some individuals stated that they had to fill their vehicles with fuel to avoid any potential shortage during the strike.

Dwelling on the issue, the manager of a petrol pump located at Rajpur Road area, Vishnu Chaudhary said, “The presence of such a large crowd at the city petrol pumps has resulted in chaotic and anxious situations for everyone involved.”

He further said that the last delivery of fuel from the truck was made on December 31, leaving only 10,000 litres remaining, which is projected to be depleted soon.

Another petrol pump employee Suraj Chauhan said that the crowd of tourists who have visited Mussoorie to celebrate the New Year are flocking to petrol pumps to fill their vehicles in order to reach their homes without any fuel-related obstacles. He said that there is an ample stock of fuel at the city petrol pumps, but the panic among the people at some petrol pumps has resulted in shortages, he said.

A local resident Rajendra Kumar said that he owns four vehicles and in light of the strike, he has filled all of them with fuel to ensure they are prepared for any future situation. He added that in today's world, life without a vehicle is impossible, which is why he feels the need to fill up each vehicle with fuel.

The president of the Dehradun Petrol Pump Dealer Association Ashish Mittal told this correspondent that there is no need to worry as there is sufficient fuel stock at every petrol pump in the city. However, the increased sales at a few petrol pumps have caused fuel problems, but there is still enough fuel in the city to meet the demands during the current strike. The panic among residents and tourists has resulted in overcrowding at the city petrol pumps, he added.
