Bokaro Steel Plant has succeeded in setting many new records by improving its performance level while facing all the challenges of the world steel market in the year 2023. Notably Under the top leadership team BSL has achieved production of 4700000 tonnes of hot metal, 4303000 tonnes of crude steel and total salable steel of 4069000 tonnes from four furnace operations in 2023, registering growth of 6.7%, 7.2%, and 7.6% over the previous calendar year. Also under the Self-reliant India campaign, BSL produced special grade steel including DMR grade steel for grain silos, solar panels, shipping containers etc. to meet the strategic needs of the country.
Jharkhand Group of Mines has achieved best ever production and dispatch in the year 2023 and registered an increase of 2.4 % and 1.8 % respectively as compared to the previous year. Also By supplying 2518 tonnes of coking coal and 4118 tonnes of boiler coal in the year 2023, the Collieries Division of SAIL/BSL has registered an increase of 13 % and 20 % respectively as compared to the previous year.
During recent visit SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash inaugurated the Desulphurization Unit 1 and 2 of SMS-2 and the Pragyan Center built for livelihood/self-employment training for the women of the regional village of Bokaro in Sector 09, run by the CSR department of BSL under Corporate Social Responsibility. Further with an aim to develop Bokaro Township as a city of excellence, in the year 2023, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), has signed MoU with NBCC India Limited for consultancy and project management services to develop BSL Plant, BSL Township and future infrastructure related projects of Jharkhand Group of Mines and Collieries Division of BSL.
