Youth held for stalking woman official in Jajpur

Saturday, 31 July 2021 | PNS | JAJPUR

A youth was detained by the Dharmasala police in Jajpur district on Thursday for allegedly following vehicle of Additional Tehsildar Sheetal Agarwal. The detainee was identified as Ranjan Pal, a resident of Nihal Prasad village under Gondia tehsil in Dhenkanal district. Acting on a tipoff about illegal transportation of stone chips at few places on National Highway-53, the woman official along with some revenue official headed toward Chadeidhara to conduct a raid. But midway, Ranjan on a bike started following official’s car near Chandikhol. Suspecting his movement, she asked other officials to stop and inquire. On failing to get a satisfactory reply, the officials detained Ranjan and handed him over to police. “Preliminary investigation suggests that he is a member of local trucks' association. Further investigations are on,” said a senior police official.
