The Uttarakhand Congress has alleged a major scam in the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY). Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of the State Congress, the chief spokesperson of the party Garima Dasauni claimed that the corrupt officers colluded with private companies to swindle a sum of Rs 1.5 crore in the PMKSY in the assembly constituency of the agriculture minister. She said that the scam of such a scale is not possible without the involvement and patronage of the departmental minister.

The Congress leader said that a Right to Information (RTI) query has revealed that on March 28, 2023, three days before the end of financial year, a sum of Rs 1.5 crore was transferred in 200 bank accounts. She claimed that verification of 200 farmers was done in a single day and by single stamp. Dasauni also claimed that the money was withdrawn from these accounts fraudulently and even the signatures of dead farmers were forged by the perpetrators of the scam. She said that as per the norms the verification should be done by going in the field. The Congress spokesperson said that the issue involves officers of agriculture and block and Nyay Panchayat level officers. She said that four to six companies are involved in the scam and it is very likely that all the companies are of one person or relatives.

Dasauni said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who claims to head a ‘zero tolerance on corruption’ government should act on the issue. She said the CM should put the truth behind the loot of public money before the general public. The Congress leader said that the scam also shows how the ministers and MLAs of so called double engine government are misusing the name of PM and demanded that the office of PM should take cognizance of the scam.
