For the first time in Central India, essential medicines and blood as well as essential injections will be delivered to the nearby districts through drone technology. For this, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandavia virtually inaugurated the Drone Station, OT Complex for Trauma and Emergency, Dexa Scan and Cobas 5800 Private Ward at AIIMS Bhopal.
The primary health center located in Goharganj tehsil of Raisen district, 60 km away, has been selected to deliver essential medicines from the drone station of AIIMS Bhopal.
AIIMS Bhopal Director Ajay Singh said that drone technology had been trialled 2 days ago. This technology will prove to be very helpful for the patient in the coming future. Preparations are on to start this entire system in one and a half to two months. Tenders have been issued for this. Let us tell you that the use of this technology has been successful in Uttarakhand and Meghalaya.
The medical officer of the primary health center will call the nodal officer of AIIMS drone and inform him about the need. After this the drone will be dispatched. Right now it will work during the day only.
The AIIMS officer said that 1 to 2 hours would have been a waste of time to travel about 60 kilometers but the drone technology is correct and the time will be covered within 20 to 30 minutes.
