The Freethought Party of India (FPI) has donated Rs 1,38,000 to the Congress and joined the INDIA Block on with a pledge to defeat the BJP, which, it said, has no respect for the secular credentials of India.
The donation money was handed over to the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Sarat Patnaik by FPI president Dr Bijayananda Kar and general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire on Saturday.
Secularism is the cornerstone of India’s Democracy. But this is being systematically and unabashedly trampled upon by PM Modi whether it is the programme of inauguration the New Ram Mandir or the inauguration of the new Parliament building, said the FPI.
“France has emerged as an ideal democracy because it has kept religion much away from education, law and politics since 1905. It is a matter of deep shock that Prime Minister Modi has invited Emmanul Macron, the French President, to be the chief guest on the occasion of our Republic Day function of January 26, without bothering to look at their secular, democratic values,” observed FPI general secretary Voltaire, adding that Modi will come to his senses if his party is defeated in the coming Lok Sabha poll.
