Governor Raghubar Das, during his visits to Kendrapada district, reportedly broke the security protocols on Saturday when he came out from his car to listen to the complaints of some women, who were waiting eagerly for him on Cuttack-Chandabali road at Jajanga.
The Governor kicked off his visit here by paying a visit to the Baladevjew temple and taking a darshan of the deities first. On his way back, a group of women from Jajang village congregated at the roadside to put forth their grievances. On seeing the women, the Governor immediately got down from his car. The women brought their sorry plight before the notice of the Governor of being deprived of housing facilities under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
To ascertain the veracity of their allegation, Das walked to their village to take stock of their living conditions. Later, he asked the Collector about the implementation of the Central Government housing schemes in the district and asked as to why the families of the women were deprived of benefits under PMAY. He directed the Collector to provide PMAY houses to the families immediately.
“After being convinced of my problem, the Governor kept my request and came to my house. But many people were telling him not to visit the village. He did not listen to anybody. The Collector and the BDO were with him. He assured me of a house,” stated a jubilant Sasmita Tripathy.
Meanwhile, the intellectual masses have praised the Governor’s action.
