The Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Monday flagged off 40 firefighting bikes from seven districts at the Public Works Department Rest House in Panchkula. The remaining 60 bikes will be handed over to the remaining districts soon, a contribution from Hero Motor Corporation under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
During the event, Chautala was briefed by the Director General of Fire and Emergency Services Dr Yashpal Singh, who provided detailed information about the department's operations and challenges. He also engaged in discussions with fire officials from Karnal, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Jind, and the Headquarters to address firefighting and emergencies. He emphasized the need to enhance the system and provided valuable suggestions. The Deputy CM assured a prompt response to the demands presented by the fire officials.
He directed inspections of educational institutions, universities, colleges, petrol stations, industries, marriage banquet halls, and the fire systems in the districts and also instructed a thorough check of fire systems in large and small industrial units across all districts. For faulty fire systems in industrial units, he directed the fire officers to conduct inspections and ensure repairs. He emphasized that if any institution fails to rectify its fire system, even after a 30-day notice from the fire department, appropriate action should be taken against it.
Chautala also urged the Director General of Fire and Emergency Services to prepare an estimate for the repair of dilapidated buildings within the department. Additionally, he directed the purchase of 25 red Boleros for all districts to ensure timely response and prevention of untoward incidents by fire brigade personnel.
