Income Tax (I-T) Department officials on Saturday continued the ongoing raid which started on Friday at several locations associated with a businessman over alleged tax evasion in Sundargarh district and outside.
Searches were carried out simultaneously at several places linked to Bibhu Panda, including his office and residence in the College Road in Sundargarh town, another office, residence in Hemagir and other business establishments in the district.
The teams were led by eight-member senior I-T officials from Sambalpur Division. Panda has a coal transport business along with rice mills and other factories at several places in the State.
“The sleuths have seized some important documents during searches and the exact amount of taxes that the businessman evaded can be ascertained after the raids are over,” official sources said.
