A Junior Engineer (JE) was spotted dead under mysterious circumstances while lying on the floor in his government quarters under Baliapal block in Baleswar district on Sunday. He was working in the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Division.
The JE was identified as Sanjay Kumar Nayak, who was alone in the house.
According to a source, a few of his subordinate staffs found him in the morning. Later, they informed local police. The staffs rescued the JE and took him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Baliapal in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
“We knocked at the main door of the house and broke it open as he (the JE) did not respond for quite a long time. He was lying on the floor,” a subordinate staff stated. “It has not been ascertained yet why the engineer took the extreme step,” a senior cop said.
On being informed, the Baliapal police reached the hospital and initiated a probe.
Notably, the JE had been suffering from jaundice and some other disease and was undergoing treatment.
